Here for your amusement is the summary of my morning dogwalks from  NW Seblar Terrace to the Pittock Mansion for the week 1/16/14 to  1/22/14.  Species neither seen nor heard the previous week are in  ALL CAPS. Additional information about my dogwalk, including an archive of weekly summaries and a checklist, may be found at http://www.hevanet.com/winkg/dogwalkpage.html The sightings are also in eBird. We did the walk 5 days this week.  This is the first full week  doing the walk with hearing aids.  It will be interesting to  see if the apparent decrease in many species over the years is real or, let's hope, only the result of my hearing loss.    Species                # days found  (peak #, date) Cackling/Canada sp.         2  (40, 1/18) SHARP-SHINNED HAWK          1  (1, 1/18) Cooper's Hawk               1  (1, 1/19) RED-TAILED HAWK             2  (1, 1/18 & 19) Ring-billed Gull            1  (1, 1/22) BAND-TAILED PIGEON          1  (2, 1/19) Anna's Hummingbird          5  (4) Downy Woodpecker            2  (1, 1/19 & 22) Hairy Woodpecker            1  (2, 1/18) Northern Flicker            4  (6, 1/19) MERLIN                      1  (1, 1/19) HUTTON'S VIREO              1  (2, 1/22) Steller's Jay               5  (4) Western Scrub-Jay           3  (1) American Crow               5  (9) Black-capped Chickadee      5  (16, 1/22) Chestnut-backed Chickadee   3  (13, 1/22) Bushtit                     1  (6, 1/18) Red-breasted Nuthatch       5  (8, 1/22) Brown Creeper               2  (1, 1/16 & 18) Pacific Wren                4  (1) Golden-crowned Kinglet      2  (1+, 1/18 & 22) RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET        2  (2, 1/22) American Robin              5  (100, 1/19) Varied Thrush               4  (5) European Starling           3  (4) CEDAR WAXWING               1  (5, 1/22) Spotted Towhee              5  (5) Fox Sparrow                 2  (1, 1/19 & 22) Song Sparrow                5  (15) Dark-eyed Junco             5  (20) House Finch                 5  (9) Wink Gross Portland
