Here is the summary of my morning dogwalks from NW Seblar Terrace to the Pittock Mansion for the week 05/27/10 to 06/02/10.  Species neither seen nor heard the previous week are in ALL CAPS. Additional information about my dogwalk, including an archive of weekly summaries and a checklist, may be found at http://www.hevanet.com/winkg/dogwalkpage.html We did the walk 3 days this week with 2 walks on 6/2.  The second, afternoon walk is designated "PM". This Friday, Lillian (the dog) and I will be leading the last of this year's Morning Bird Song Walks at the Pittock Mansion.  These  walks, sponsored by Portland Audubon, are free and begin at 7AM at  the Pittock Mansion parking lot.  The walks last about 2 hours,  but you're free to leave whenever the rain gets to be too much for you.  For more information, see http://audubonportland.org/trips-classes-camps/adult/birdsong-walks Species                # days found  (peak #, date) Band-tailed Pigeon          2  (2, 6/1 & 2PM) Vaux's Swift                1  (1, 5/28) Anna's Hummingbird          2  (4, 6/1) Rufous Hummingbird          1  (1, 5/28) Red-breasted Sapsucker      1  (1, 5/28) HAIRY WOODPECKER            1  (1, 6/1) Northern Flicker            3  (2, 6/2) Pacific-slope Flycatcher    2  (4, 6/1) Warbling Vireo              1  (1, 6/1) Steller's Jay               3  (4, 6/1) Western Scrub-Jay           2  (1, 6/1 & 2) American Crow               3  (3, 5/28) Violet-Green Swallow        3  (6, 6/1) Black-capped Chickadee      3  (8, 6/1) Chestnut-backed Chickadee   3  (3, 6/1) Bushtit                     3  (4) Red-breasted Nuthatch       3  (3, 6/1) Brown Creeper               1  (1, 6/1) Winter Wren                 3  (2) Swainson's Thrush           2  (4, 6/1) American Robin              3  (13, 6/1) European Starling           3  (3) Orange-Crowned Warbler      2  (4, 6/1) Black-throated Gray Warbler 3  (2) Wilson's Warbler            3  (4, 5/28) Spotted Towhee              3  (6) Song Sparrow                3  (7) Dark-eyed Junco             3  (8) Western Tanager             2  (1) Black-headed Grosbeak       3  (4, 6/1) Purple Finch                3  (2) House Finch                 3  (6, 6/1) RED CROSSBILL               1  (2, 5/28) Pine Siskin                 1  (4, 6/1) LESSER GOLDFINCH            2  (1) American Goldfinch          3  (5, 6/1) Evening Grosbeak            1  (2, 5/28) In the neighborhood but not found on dogwalk:  Olive-sided  Flycatcher Misses (birds found at least 3 days during previous 2 weeks but not found this week):  Brown-headed Cowbird That the cowbirds are gone and the crossbills are back kind of says it all, doesn't it?
