Condition: the cover, text and plate content of book is in very good condtion; dj is fair-good with sections of spine separation and corner chips, edge wear and one or two short tears. Ananda K. Coomaraswamy. The Arts & Crafts of India & Ceylon. T.N. Foulis, London & Edinburgh, 1913. FIRST EDITION. Two hundred and twenty five illustrations. Hard cover binding wtih tan cloth, gilt lettering on the front and spine, gilt top edge, 256 pages. No dj (however, what was apparently the front cover of the dj is mounted on the endpaper inside of the book's front cover. It contains a separate full color plate of Krishna dancing mounted on the printed dj front cover - the same color plate as that which appears as a frontis inside the book. Both plates - on the dj and frontis - are bright and clean.)The inked signature of a former owner appears neatly on the first flyleaf along with three small pencil notations (a date, a price, and the letters T-Y). Condition: very good +++. The textured buckram cloth of the binding is tight and clean with four small black marks on the back cover cloth. Preface, introduction and one hundred fourteen full page plates, many in full color covering the predynastic period, Old Kingdom, Middle Kingdom, New Kingdom and the Late Dynastic Period. Condition: The book is very good. The former owner's name is stamped on the front and rear endpaper/flyleaves and about six or seven times on the edge of text pages, altogether missing any copy or plates. The first few text pages have a small area of wrinkle near the center-top area - perhaps due to a paperclip or a touch of moisture. The dj is in fine condition. Buyer pays $5. pack and post.
