Basic I Basic II email/Internet

Basic I
  1. Computer terminology
  2. How to turn your machine on or off.
  3. Review the keyboard.
  4. How to use the mouse effectively.
  5. Type a letter.
  6. Software basics.
  7. Introduction to word-processing.
  8. Introduction to Email/Internet.

You will acquire the skills taught in this class if you have a computer and are willing to spend at least an hour a week practicing what is discussed in each class session.

If you do not own or have access to a computer, you may use the computers in the SCLC, at no cost, to practice. The computers in the SCLC are available for your use from 10:00-1:00PM each Friday. An instructor is also available to answer questions.

Cost: $35.00 gets you four sessions for a total of eight hours of instruction. Note: If you've taken this class before, you may retake this class for $15.00, within a year of the first time through.

Basic II
  1. Use Windows or Macintosh menus, icons, and help screens.
  2. Use a floppy disk
  3. See and work with the contents of floppy disks and hard drives.
  4. Create and delete folders and files.
  5. Copy and Save a file.
  6. Do word-processing.
  7. Install an application.
  8. Overview MS Works Spreadsheet.
  9. Overview MS Works Database.
  10. Introduction to the Internet.

Seniors Teaching Seniors: Basic classes are taught by a group of senior volunteers who believe that older folks can learn computing best when instructed by persons in their same age group
