Welcome Friends, you may be wondering just is going through the mind of Worldwide Pablo. "His own website?" "Has he lost his marbles?" (Not that he had many to begin with, but we digress ...) "Who does he think he is?" Welcome to a modest experiment, fitting for a 21st century kind of guy.like Worldwide Pablo, the online alter-ego of Paul Nickell. Here before your very eyes (eyeballs, for you web geeks) is the product of literally hours and minutes of strategic planning, goal setting, "thinking outside the box," paradigm shifting ... you get the picture. Our goals are modest: a simple and easy-to-remember website for family and friends to read and post news, to connect with Worldwide Pablo, to stay informed about matters that matter, and to have a little fun. Along the way, Worldwide Pablo hopes to pick up a few web skills that might translate into big bucks at the office. (Just kidding, Karen.) This website will be updated only occasionally, although we promise that at least one new page will be added weekly. Bookmark now, WWP says. Single and dating Worldwide Pablo's Palm Pilot has drained more than a few AAA batteries in the past month. The warming summer weather has brought an increase in visitors to the backyard hot tub these past few weeks. Electric bills are up, neighbors' patience at looking at naked bodies is down. Other notable entries in the Palm Pilot are two recent dates. Let the record reflect that neither of these resulted in second dates, but WWP is undaunted. Online singles ads still tout his many manly virtues, and friends give him much-needed advice on dating in the new millennium. (Recall that it has been 16 years since WWP last went a-courtin'.) Say a novena or two for him. On the road again It would not be summer without some kind of travel plans, especially if it involves family. Late July takes WWP to Puget Sound for vacation with the sisters and dad. Then it's off to Bremerton to see longtime family friend, Linda Olsen, and Vancouver, B.C., to see travel buds, Denny and June Maynard. History books reflect the fact that WWP's last visit to our northern neighbor was in 1966, in a football team exchange program. (That's soccer, for us Yanks.) August brings the Edigers. Watch for the fotos. But think of the wonderful tax writeoffs The Money Pit, aka WWP's humble NE Portland abode, continues to be a thirsty wench. A broken water line provided considerable replenishment to the city's acquifer before discovery nearly one year after the damage. Blame yard work on the water-line break; blame the Portland Water Bureau for taking a year to figure it out. And we shan't forget Money Pit's sewer line, which experienced its biannual blockage, yielding no shortage of basement surprises for a long weekend in June. The pain of forking out $3,000 for these and other household calamities, however, is outweighed by such joys as the new and emerging naturescape jungle, planted last year in the front yard.. |
