Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

War isn't just when innocents are hurt. This is a military-industrial state. We have no confidence that spending on health and education will help the economy as much as aircraft carriers and tanks. Yet the University of Massachusetts says just this in a recent scientific study. Again, it is a rational choice of butter over guns. The more butter, the better the economy. Make love not war.

Our knowledge of life deepens with age. As the Bishop of Rome said at the United Nations, "War no more, never again war." Also, "If you want to be brothers, let the weapons fall from your hands."

War is the primeval serpent. No "war" is just when innocent civilians, women and children, are murdered by any side. Modern technology makes war unthinkable. "Collateral damage" is the blood of Abel crying out for vindication.
