Triple Falls Hike

Triple Falls is the next stop as you head west on Old Scenic Highway 30 from Oneonta Gorge. To see these three side-by-side 100-135ft falls you have to hike 3.6 miles round trip. It's a moderate hike in terms of elevation change, but not bad if you are a regular hiker. This trail is just a few hundred yards from Oneonta Gorge, signs mark the trailhead. As you head up the trail, it will fork after about 5 minutes of hiking. Take the fork to the left (towards Horsetail Falls trail). It will take you towards Triple Falls. The trail branches at about 0.6 miles again, where Horsetail Falls Trail leads to the left. You take the trail to the right, which goes uphill some more. The sign at this junction does not say Triple Falls, but the trail WILL take you there if you take the branch on the right.

If you go down the Horsetail Falls Trail branch (the left branch), about 2 minutes later you will cross a bridge over Oneonta Creek (the same creek that feeds the waterfall in Oneonta Gorge). There is a waterfall at this bridge also, the last picture on this page.

Above Triple Falls, there are quite a few moss-covered boulders with water cascading over them. It makes a nice picture.
