Oneonta Gorge

The second stop is just a few seconds west on Old Scenic Highway from Horsetail Falls. Oneonta gorge is a long narrow chasm with high rock walls on both sides. As you travel farther inside you approach a waterfall at the end of the gorge. It's a good idea to bring sandals that you can walk in the water with and maybe even a walking stick, since going barefoot with no stick takes a while. About half way into the gorge you can't avoid getting your feet wet, so expect this to be an interactive hike.

Looking back towards the entrance to the gorge.

Greenery on the steep walls and
an idea of how narrow the gorge is.

Bright lichens near the entrance of the gorge.
Yes, they are this bright.
